Rogue Quilting

I attended an Anime convention with my teenage daughter. Most of the attendees came in costume and waited in long lines to get autographs from voice-over artists. The show floor was filled with artists’ booths advertising “fan art”. The pricing was aimed at the teenage budget and the theme was either action-packed or princess pretty. A few of the artist’s works caught my attention with extraordinary design ideas.

I have been designing quilts for over 20 years. I usually work in the world of traditional, modern or realistic styles. I love trying new ideas. Standing on the show floor among the giants, monsters, and Nordic warriors, it occurred to me that the quilting design world could include some of these new creative ideas. After all, some of these princesses will grow up and go away to college. They may wish to take a Black Butler quilt for their dorm room.
